A Practically Perfect Day

It is, of course, impossible to have a PERFECT day with a two-year-old and a newborn, but today we came pretty close.  And thank goodness for that...we've had a challenging last couple days, so Mommy really needed this.

Mornings and nights are generally the rougher part of the day, and today was no exception (that's the "practically" portion of the "practically perfect" day).  Hamilton woke up too early and watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse until his mommy felt ready to start her day.  And the evening featured Hamilton throwing a ball at Beckett (waking him) and splashing around the toliet (hasn't done this in forever).

Note: taking a pause here...peacefully sleeping Beckett now no longer peaceful nor sleeping...this is why I haven't posted in awhile... Ok I'm back & typing one handed...

Now for the good points:
  • made it to Mommy and Me class--Beckett cried the whole way there but stopped on arrival and spent the majority of the time sleeping in his car seat. Hamilton played nicely with everyone...last week he was kind of aggressive with the other kids.
  • Hamilton went down for a nap without my once having to yell at him to get back in his bed...miracle. And he fell asleep before my friend Jen came (it was tight timing).
  • Beckett went to sleep at the same time as Hamilton. This is like the Holy Grail.
  • After they were asleep, I had time to straighten the kitchen and living room.
  • My good friend Jen came to visit...grown-up conversation in the middle of a weekday!  Her husband even dropped by for a bit and entertained Hamilton.  Really like those guys! :)
  • Beckett got a super awesome knitted blanket...made by Jen. Yeah, she's amazing.
  • Hamilton, Beckett, and I went on an hour walk that contained ZERO drama from any of us.  Wow...this can happen?!
  • Beckett made it through the day without any projectile vomiting.  Means a lot to the person who does laundry around here.
  • It's Friday...two days of co-parenting ahead!
